What’s in Your Mounjaro Kit?
When your Mounjaro arrives from PillSorted, your package includes:
- Mounjaro KwikPen — pre-filled with four doses (one month’s supply)
- Sterile alcohol swabs — for cleaning the injection site
- Needles — one for each dose (always use a fresh needle)
- Sharps bin — included with your first order, for safe needle disposal
- Patient Information Leaflet — read this before your first injection
How to Store Your Mounjaro Pen
- Before first use: Keep in the fridge (2–8°C). Do not freeze.
- After first use: Store at room temperature (up to 30°C) for up to 21 days.
- Never leave the pen in direct sunlight or in a hot car.
Before You Inject
- Take the pen out of the fridge 30 minutes before injecting so it reaches room temperature.
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Check the expiry date on the pen — do not use if expired.
- Look at the medicine through the viewing window — it should be clear and colourless. Do not use if cloudy or discoloured.
Step-by-Step: How to Inject
- Attach the needle — remove the paper tab from a new needle and push it straight onto the pen tip. Twist until snug.
- Prime the pen — remove the outer and inner needle caps. Turn the dose knob to the priming symbol. Hold the pen with the needle pointing up. Press and hold the injection button until “0” shows and a drop appears at the needle tip.
- Set your dose — turn the dose knob until your prescribed dose shows in the window.
- Choose your injection site — stomach (at least 5 cm from your belly button), front of your thigh, or back of your upper arm. Rotate sites each week.
- Clean the site — wipe with the alcohol swab and let it dry.
- Inject — pinch the skin, insert the needle at a 90° angle, and press the injection button. Hold for 10 seconds, then remove.
- Dispose of the needle — place the outer cap back on, unscrew the needle, and drop it into your sharps bin. Never put used needles in household waste.
Tips for a Comfortable Injection
- Injecting at room temperature reduces discomfort.
- Rotate your injection site each week to avoid soreness.
- If you see a small drop of blood after removing the needle, press gently with a cotton pad — this is normal.
